PERE MARQUETTE

GRAND RAPIDS/ CHICAGO

Amtrak’s Pere Marquette line runs between Grand Rapids and Chicago, round-trip, seven days a week. Rather than battling traffic or struggling with parking spaces, riders on the Pere Marquette line travel along the coast of Lake Michigan in relaxed comfort.

About the Pere Marquette

The Pere Marquette line celebrated her 20th anniversary in the summer of 2004. Travelers are choosing to ride in the comfort of the Pere Marquette more and more: year-to-date ridership is up 11.7%. The Pere Marquette line is well on the way to matching or beating last year’s ridership increase of 22%, which helped Amtrak to attain its highest annual ridership in its 32-year history. These growth rates rival those of other Amtrak train lines nationwide.

Rider Information

Reservations are required to ride the Pere Marquette.
Sandwiches, snacks, and beverages are available for purchase on the train.
Passengers may carry up to two pieces of hand baggage on board the train. There is no checked baggage service.
A wheelchair lift is available at the Grand Rapids and Holland station.
Please, no smoking on the Pere Marquette.
Guests 18 years and older should carry a driver's license, passport or other photo identification.

Grand Rapids

Located at the corner of Wealthy Street and Market Avenue, the Grand Rapids station offers an indoor waiting area, restrooms, pay phones, wheelchair lift and a Quik-Trak ticketing machine. The heart of downtown Grand Rapids, which lies just a few blocks north of the train station, features restaurants, bars, an enticing selection of entertainment venues, and beautiful views of the Grand River. Holland

Located at 171 Lincoln Avenue, the Holland station is also known as the Padnos Transportation Center. It offers an indoor waiting area, restrooms, pay phones, wheelchair lift and a Quik-Trak ticketing machine. Downtown Holland lies just a few blocks west of the Amtrak station, offering visitors diverse restaurants and boutique shopping in a quaint setting with a distinctively European atmosphere. Bangor

Located at 541 Railroad Street, the Bangor stop is brand new—again! This beautifully renovated station offers an enclosed waiting area, payphones, restrooms, a coffee shop and a computer kiosk for Amtrak reservations. The railroad is directly related to the development of Bangor in the late 1800’s. New Buffalo

The New Buffalo station will be relocated to 225 North Whittaker at a date to be announced. When the move is completed, Trains 354, 355, 364 and 365 will provide service to/from New Buffallo. Trains 370 and 371 will not stop. Please contact Amtrak for effective dates.

Currently located at West Washington Street & South Whittaker Street, the New Buffalo stop is marked by a covered shelter and features several payphones. New Buffalo offers visitors access to beautiful Lake Michigan for swimming or boating, fishing in the Lake or the Galien River, golfing, antiquing, and more. Located at 225 S. Canal Street in downtown Chicago, Union Station is within walking distance of Grant Park, Buckingham Fountain, Chicago Theatre, Daley Center, Sears Tower, Civic Opera House and the Art Institute of Chicago. Union Station is staffed with Amtrak personnel to assist passengers.
